This picture shows some of the damage caused by Hurricane Elena (Summer,
1985). The shot, sent in by WB5UAA, shows the 2-mtr antenna that used
to be vertically polarized, now aligned by Elena for EME work. I was
a ditty-bop instructor and an active ham at Keesler when this picture was taken,
but was not a club member at the time. Those of us at Keesler
when Elena came through can attest that this shot does not come close to showing
what Elena did to the MS gulf coast. I lived in Thrower Park (base housing)
and had no power for two-weeks solid. Oddly enough, I was also at Keesler
when Hurricane Georges came through...but was teaching the Comm-Computer Operator
course. That time I was a very active club member. AD4XX
