GOOD NEWS! The club is being re-activated. TSgt Keneth Collings, N0UEP has taken over as Trustee for K5TYP and is rallying to organize membership of the club. If you are active duty on base or retired locals, and interested please contact him by email by clicking on his callsign. He usually monitors the base repeater @ 146.790- MHz. Kenny has secured some office space at Locker House, and it looks like that's going to be our NEW QTH for the club. Plans are in motion to re-establish the HF station. Please visit this site often for updates on meeting times/dates/locations & activities.

        Website History 18 March 1999:

"The Keesler Air Force Base Amateur Radio Club, callsign K5TYP, has been active, off and on, for many decades.   Prior to my retirement, I managed this site while stationed at Keesler in the late 1990's and have since been able to collect many photos and memories of the club's history and membership.   Nearly all of the material you will find on this site is donated by past members who took the time to scan old pictures and/or recount fond memories...and then send them in.   Although the club has once again dipped into obscurity, I'm convinced it will return to life some day.   This site is dedicated to the past to all the club members who gave their time to make the club something worth remembering.   THANK YOU ALL. Jim, AD4XX"

AD4XX put this original archive together and all of us that have spent time at K5TYP appreciate his tremendous efforts at keeping us all together. Currently Jim is busy with other things in life so I will try to keep it all together I took the site over from AD4XX on 18 January 2002.
        73,
        Tony King (at K5TYP 6/66-1/69)
        W4ZT (ex WA4UPE) (SK February 2009)

Sadly, Tony, W4ZT passed away in February 2009, and the site had remained untouched since May 21, 2007. I contacted the person who is maintaining his domains for posterity, and asked him if he would hand over control of K5TYP.ORG to me. The club is beginning a new chapter so it seems, and we want ensure that nothing happens to the domain name and content. Date: 29 April 2009. Jimmy, K5OP
